For nearly a decade, I sat in the distributors chair, and was routinely disappointed in how little real help I could get from people that claimed to want to “help me grow my business”. If I sat thru one more supplier line review where the rep took us page by page thru their catalog while passing product around the table, I may have stabbed my own eyes out.
So, that’s why I changed sides. I wanted to see if I could be part of the solution.
It’s difficult to sell today. To me, it’s never been more difficult to make a connection with a prospect. While you’ll hear countless times how your prospects are “looking for a trusted partner” it’s nearly impossible to create the connection that might lead to that worthwhile relationship. We’re in the same boat as you, and we’re doing everything we can to figure out ways to break down the barriers that the business environment of today creates between you and me.
Here’s what I see as I study selling in the world today and how I apply it to what I’m trying to do.
I’ve learned a lot in the time that I have been selling promotional products as a distributor, and I believe that the best way to create a lasting and meaningful relationship with someone is to do two things:
1) Create a business that improves your professional life in some way. I think we’ve done that, and I’d encourage you to give what we’re doing a try, so you can see if what I say is true, and
2) Give everything you know away to the people that need it the most. The world used to revolve around scarcity of information; he or she that knew more than anyone else usually had the upper hand. That’s no longer true. If you withhold information that would be of use and the people that you’re doing business with find out that you been doing so, you should expect those relationship to wither and die.
Knowing that, here’s what I have to offer:
1) You need more time to sell. What we do at Order Commander gives you back more of that time to sell than almost anything else in the industry today. It just works. There are a lot of people that can vouch for this, and I’m happy to share their stories with you should you want to know more.
2) Once you have more time to sell, you need help creating things that would be of interest to the people to whom you’re selling. Because I was a distributor for years, I’ve developed a number of “ready-to-sell today” solutions that I am happy to share with those folks that are interested in using their time to sell more, and we’re constantly working on a pipeline of new ideas to bring to those distributors doing business with us. It’s the most fun thing I get to do, and I relish the opportunity to watch you succeed with something that we’ve worked on together.
